Satchel Henneman is a composer and virtuoso guitarist from the Pacific Northwest currently based in Dublin. He has received degrees from Cornish College of the Arts (BM ‘17) and Yale School of Music (MM ‘20), where he studied with Ben Verdery. Satchel has guest lectured at the Yale School of Architecture, The New School, and Pace.
Satchel has been teaching guitar full-time since 2021, and part-time since 2014. As a teacher he has worked with students of a variety of backgrounds, aspirations, and abilities and has enjoyed learning to adapt his teaching approach to meet their individual needs. He has experience teaching classical and commercial styles at all ages, from early childhood to pre-college, college, and adult amateur. He has taught private lessons at community music schools and colleges, as well as group classes in primary schools, afterschool programs, and as part of community outreach programs. He was most recently on faculty at Riverside City College, the Riverside Arts Academy, and Claremont Community School of Music.
In 2022 he received Suzuki training which has enabled him to effectively teach students as young as five. In addition to guitar he has taught beginning ukulele and beginning piano classes.
